Local Testing for Membership in Lattices

چکیده
Testing membership in lattices is of practical relevance, with applications to integer programming, error detection in lattice-based communication and cryptography. In this work, we initiate a systematic study of local testing for membership in lattices, complementing and building upon the extensive body of work on locally testable codes. In particular, we formally define the notion of local tests for lattices and present the following: 1. We show that in order to achieve low query complexity, it is sufficient to design one-sided non-adaptive canonical tests. This result is akin to, and based on an analogous result for error-correcting codes due to Ben-Sasson et al. (SIAM J. Computing 35(1) pp1–21). 2. We demonstrate upper and lower bounds on the query complexity of local testing for membership in code formula lattices. We instantiate our results for code formula lattices constructed from Reed-Muller codes to obtain nearly-matching upper and lower bounds on the query complexity of testing such lattices. 3. We contrast lattice testing from code testing by showing lower bounds on the query complexity of testing low-dimensional lattices. This illustrates large lower bounds on the query complexity of testing membership in knapsack lattices. On the other hand, we show that knapsack lattices with bounded coefficients have low-query testers if the inputs are promised to lie in the span of the lattice. 1998 ACM Subject Classification “F.2 Analysis of algorithms and problem complexity”

An equivalence functor between local vector lattices and vector lattices
We call a local vector lattice any vector lattice with a distinguished positive strong unit and having exactly one maximal ideal (its radical). We provide a short study of local vector lattices. In this regards, some characterizations of local vector lattices are given. For instance, we prove that a vector lattice with a distinguished strong unit is local if and only if it is clean with non no-...
متن کاملAN ALGEBRAIC STRUCTURE FOR INTUITIONISTIC FUZZY LOGIC
In this paper we extend the notion of degrees of membership and non-membership of intuitionistic fuzzy sets to lattices and introduce a residuated lattice with appropriate operations to serve as semantics of intuitionistic fuzzy logic. It would be a step forward to find an algebraic counterpart for intuitionistic fuzzy logic. We give the main properties of the operations defined and prove som...
متن کاملRegularity in residuated lattices
In this paper, we study residuated lattices in order to give new characterizations for dense, regular and Boolean elements in residuated lattices and investigate special residuated lattices in order to obtain new characterizations for the directly indecomposable subvariety of Stonean residuated lattices. Free algebra in varieties of Stonean residuated lattices is constructed. We introduce in re...
متن کاملFrankl's Conjecture for a subclass of semimodular lattices
In this paper, we prove Frankl's Conjecture for an upper semimodular lattice $L$ such that $|J(L)setminus A(L)| leq 3$, where $J(L)$ and $A(L)$ are the set of join-irreducible elements and the set of atoms respectively. It is known that the class of planar lattices is contained in the class of dismantlable lattices and the class of dismantlable lattices is contained in the class of lattices ha...
متن کاملRADICAL OF FILTERS IN RESIDUATED LATTICES
In this paper, the notion of the radical of a filter in residuated lattices is defined and several characterizations of the radical of a filter are given. We show that if F is a positive implicative filter (or obstinate filter), then Rad(F)=F. We proved the extension theorem for radical of filters in residuated lattices. Also, we study the radical of filters in linearly o...
